Veronica slowly opened her eyes, and found Nick wrapped around her and her cheek resting on his chest.
“Good morning, sweetness,” he murmured, his voice deep and husky. It made her want to get fucked again and it didn’t matter that she was sore and pleasantly tired. His fingers trailed through her hair that he had fanned out on the pillow.
“Good morning, Sir.”
“Scene is over, Veronica.”
Looking confused, she considered him. “What do you mean?”
Immediately, Nick looked worried. “We’re not in a scene right now. You can call me Nick.” His face cleared as realization took over. His sigh was deep. “Christopher kept you twenty-four seven didn’t he?”
She turned her head to look at him. She couldn’t stop the moan of delight when Nick continued to caress her back. Nick chuckled at the sound she made but soon sobered.
“Veronica?”
Her chest expanded against his side as she took a break of her own. “He was always ‘sir’,”
Nick shook his head. “If you are sub, you are only required to be completely obedient when we are in a scene. I won’t get mad if you call me Nick or question me outside that.”
“Scene…”
“What we did last night would be considered a scene. And once it’s over, there’s no obligation.” His look was tender, adoring. Veronica wasn’t used to seeing that on her Sir’s face. All the while that she was Nick’s sub, not once had he hurt her. Not once had he hit her or caused her to bleed before granting her pleasure that, in reality, truly belonged to her. The fire, Nick’s sensual caress of her body before giving her the exquisite of pleasures was that component she knew existed within the lifestyle’s confines.
That thought sealed it for her. After being destroyed by Christopher, broken by life, and frightened by sex, this man was with whom she wanted to be. Her heart lightened at her decision and the cloak of fear, of insecurity about satisfying her lust slowly fell away.
Nick tucked her hair behind her ear, and she leaned into his hand, wanting to feel his warm palm on her skin.
“Veronica...I know you were getting ready to run. You have nothing to run from. Consider staying here, with me? As my submissive if you’d like, but at least with me.”
There was no hesitation. “Yes, Sir. I will stay with you.” She smirked at him. “As long as you keep using me as a fire play demonstration.”
“Oh, I plan to keep using for a lot more than that.” He slipped her leg over his hip, and her lips parted as her pussy rippled when Nick slipped himself inside her. “Let me show you where I want to start with your retraining…”
Epilogue One
Two years later
“Sit down, Nick! Jesus, man.”
He sat down on the chair, the unexpected command from Brock catching him off guard. Adam openly laughed.
“It’s not nice to tease him.” Bettina gave both of them a scowl.
“I should be in there.” Nick heard himself growling the words. He was becoming a nervous wreck not being inside the operation room with Veronica. He had successfully erased Veronica’s fear of her past. With the help of Doctor Kyle Devereaux, Veronica was able to burn the bad memories and keep the good ones which she had with Danny. She continued to work for Gio but on a part time basis as the manager while Angelo took over hollering at the staff inside the kitchen. Nick had been careful at peeling away the scars Christopher had left. He had told Veronica that she had the option of skin grafting over the physical wounds her ex had left her, but she refused.
Because those wounds on her thighs were the scars of love and sacrifice she had willingly given for Danny. And Nick loved her all the more for it.
“They will call you in when they are ready, mate” Adam said, his eyes crinkling at the sides. “They hate having doctors around in the operating room, and you just have to wait your turn. How would you feel if another doctor was in your theatre?”
“That’s not the same Hunter, and you well know it.” Nick said scowling at the two men who have become his closest friends since permanently moving to Karim.
The door opened as if on cue. Nick stood, hands low on his hips, an imposing figure that should have intimidated the nurse. She beamed and then smiled the more he scowled. “Doctor Travers, that isn’t going to wash with me. I’ve seen more anxious fathers with worse faces than yours.”
Brock hooted with laughter earning a slap on the arm from Bettina. When Adam joined in she rolled her eyes in resignation.
“Come on in.” The nurse took pity on him. “We’re ready to deliver.”
Nick didn’t fuckin care when Bettina joined her men giggling as he nearly ran into the room. The obstetrician was also laughing, along with his wife. Veronica held out her hand and he grabbed it.
“Jesus, Veronica, don’t make me wait to be with you at the birth of my child.” He didn’t give a shit if he had an audience as he peppered his wife’s face with kisses.
“You’re a mess, Nicholas,” she said caressing his face with the love in her eyes. “We got this.”
“I am allowed to be nervous.”
The obstetrician chortled again. “Typical.” She turned to the nurse and nodded. “We’re ready.”
As per Veronica’s request, he stayed behind the curtain with her, not peeking over. Ever since Veronica had started working with Doctor Devereaux, she had interesting demands on him--including not watching her cesarean section even though he was a doctor himself and knew what was going on. She said it would make it hard for him to see her as sexual.
That was where his wife was wrong. Nothing would ever make him not see her as his gorgeous wife and beautiful sub. Nothing.
The cry of a baby echoed in the room not long after. “A girl!” Nick didn’t know who announced it, but his heart swelled knowing his daughter was born.
“Danielle Mary,” Veronica confirmed gasping, looking at him with eyes filled with love.
And a moment later, “A boy!”
They both knew that Veronica was carrying twins but they decided not to know the sex. The realization that they now had a boy and a girl filled Nick’s heart to bursting. When Veronica squeezed his hand, he squeezed hers in return.
Nick grinned watching the emotion fill Veronica’s. “Ryan Thomas.”
The twins were here.
He was going to be the best damn father his two children would ever have. With his beautiful Veronica as their mother, his sub, the love of his life, nothing could have made him happier.
Epilogue Two
I didn’t think that I’d ever find happiness after Danny died. Nick coaxed the real me out of the shell I built around myself because of what I thought was the truth. I know that wherever Danny is, he is now smiling down on me and the wonderful family Nick has given me. I have learned to trust once more finally found the love I always wished for because I live within the passion and heart of the man who has shown me what bliss truly is.
I am no longer afraid.
I am no longer alone.

About the Authors
Isobelle Cate
Isobelle Cate is a woman who wears different masks. Mother-writer, wife-professional, scholar-novelist. Currently living in Manchester, she has been drawn to the little known, the secret stories, about the people and the nations: the English, the Irish, the Scots, the Welsh, and those who are now part of these nations whatever their origins. Her vision and passion are fuelled by her interest and background in history and paradoxically, shaped by growing up in a clan steeped in lore, loyalty, and legend.
Isobelle is intrigued by forces that simmer beneath the surface of these cultures, the hidden passions, unsaid desires, and yearnings unfulfilled.
